Orillia OPP charged a 17-year-old with stunt driving after catching them excessively speeding in Severn on Sunday morning.

Just after 8 a.m., an officer conducting traffic enforcement saw the vehicle speeding on Highway 11 North, and recorded its speed at 144 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone.

After a traffic stop, the Orillia teen had their vehicle impounded for 14 days and driver's licence suspended for 30 days. They are facing a stunt driving charge and a speeding charge for exceeding the posted limit by 50 km/h or more.

They will appear in court at a later date, police say.
