Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to and charged drivers in two separate impaired driving incidents; one on Thursday, the other on Friday.

Around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, officers got a report of a vehicle that slid backward into a ditch on Dawson Sideroad in Tiny.

Officers got to the scene and found a man inside the still-running vehicle. As they spoke with him, they observed strong signs of impairment and saw alcohol containers inside the vehicle.

The 57-year-old man from Innisfil was brought to the detachment for testing. He was eventually charged on two counts of impaired driving.

Then, around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, police were alerted to a possible impaired driver in a parking lot on Midland Avenue in Midland. Officers patrolling on foot approached the unusually parked vehicle and eventually identified the driver in a convenience store.

The woman eventually exited the store and tried to drive away, but was intercepted by police. A subsequent discussion yielded signs of impairment, which led officers to arrest the woman and bring her to the attachment for further testing.

As a result, the 67-year-old woman from Midland was charged with impaired operation and resisting a police officer.

Both charged individuals are set to appear in court in Midland at a later date. They each had their drivers licences suspended for 90 days and vehicles impounded for a week.
