A search warrant executed at a residence in Penetanguishene on Thursday led to a firearm seizure and the arrest of a man by OPP.
The Southern Georgian Bay OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) commenced the investigation in January, which led to the arrest of a man while he was exiting a shopping centre in Penetanguishene.
Police say uniformed officers assisted in executing a search warrant later that day at the residence on Peel Street. As a result, a sawed-off shotgun was seized along with approximately 259 rounds of ammunition across multiple calibers of firearms.
The 35-year-old man Penetanguishene that was arrested was handed three charges including the knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm, and the possession and careless storage of a prohibited firearm with ammunition.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for Friday.
