Feel the crackling fire as you roast traditional bannock bread. Hear the rhythmic clang of the blacksmith's hammer echoing in the twilight. Experience the hushed whispers of the past stirring in the shadows ...
This immersive experience isn't just about historical facts; it's about conjuring the very essence of Wendake at nightfall.
The evening wraps up in the cozy confines of the longhouse. Here you can sip on historic teas and lose yourself in the magic of traditional Indigenous storytelling.
"This is a rare opportunity to experience Sainte-Marie at night, without the crowds," says Will Baird, General Manager of Huronia Historical Parks. "Our goal is to offer small groups of guests an immersive, intimate and unforgettable historical experience."
A historical experience unlike any other
Unlike the popular First Light event that illuminates the mission with a dazzling display of candles, Shadows & Stone offers a more authentic glimpse into life after dark. It reflects the reality of how the residents would have navigated their evenings by the dim glow of firelight.
"Candles were expensive in that era," explains Chad Moreau, Operations Manager of Sainte-Marie among the Hurons. He continues, "the residents of Sainte-Marie would have gone through their evening routines in relative darkness."
Experience history, make memories
Tickets for Shadows & Stone are just $20 (including tax) and are available online. With limited spaces available, advanced booking is highly recommended.
