Shoplifting spree at Tanger Outlets

Thousands of dollars in clothing swiped from stores

Two women from the GTA face a total of 26 charges, accused of going on a shoplifting bender.

South Simcoe Police say they responded to the Highway 89 mall in Cookstown Saturday night after a loss prevention officer reported the theft of a large amount of clothing. The suspects resisted arrest and fled in a vehicle.

The vehicle was stopped on Highway 400 in Bradford and the women were arrested.

Police seized several thousand dollars worth of clothes allegedly stolen from numerous stores in Tanger Outlets, in addition to clothing that belonged to stores not at the mall. A large quantity of decorative jewellery was also located from an unknown store. Tools used to thwart security measures on merchandise was also recovered.
