Two drivers face impaired charges after Southern Georgian Bay OPP say one attempted to skip a R.I.D.E stop, while the other was involved in a crash.
The first incident happened on Friday, December 22, around 7 p.m.
"OPP officers conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Champlain Road at Robbs Road, Penetanguishene observed a vehicle take action to avoid the R.I.D.E. program and stopped the vehicle," police said in a release.
A 53-year-old Penetanguishene man was charged with impaired operation and driving with an open container of liquor.
Then on Saturday, December 23, at 9:45 p.m., OPP responded to a single-vehicle crash on Concession 11 East, Tiny Township, near Simcoe County Road 6 North.
The lone driver, a 51-year-old Penetanguishene man, was charged with impaired offences.
Both were released with court dates in January 2024.
They also face 90-day licence suspensions, and both vehicles were impounded for seven days.
"Educating the public about safe driving, boating and ORV practices with our community safety partners is a priority, if you see a possible impaired operator on our roadways, waterways or trails please "Make the Call" and dial 911 as impaired driving never ends well, please make a plan to get home safely," OPP stated.
