Simcoe County man charged in pair of sexual assault investigations

Provincial police have charged a Beeton resident in connection with two sexual assault investigations.

Nottawasaga OPP say officers began an investigation on September 1 following a report of a sexual assault in Beeton. Four days later, a second investigation was launched related to a historical sexual assault that reportedly took place in 2020, also in Beeton.

On September 5, police arrested a 50-year-old man and charged him with two counts each of sexual assault, sexual interference, and luring a person under the age of 14 by means of telecommunication.

“Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are committed to ensuring all individuals affected receive the support and justice they deserve,” Nottawasaga OPP stated in a news release. “The OPP encourages anyone who may have been a victim, or who has information related to these incidents, to come forward

The accused was released on bail and is to appear in court early next month.
