The City of Orillia has mobilized additional resources to assist with flood mitigation in the Cedar Island Road and Davey Drive area.
As lake waters continue to rise into the weekend, the Province and the County of Simcoe are supporting the city by providing over 50,000 sandbags, a sandbagging machine and additional sand, and flood protection barriers.
At this time, there is no declaration of an emergency. Flooding remains localized and city crews along with additional resources will continue to work throughout the day and overnight pumping water and putting measures in place to prevent further flooding and protect nearby homes.
City water is safe:
The municipal drinking water system remains safe. Recent rainfall and localized flooding have not impacted the safety or quality of the city-supplied water. If your property uses a private water supply (such as a well), extra precautions may be needed if your area is affected by flooding. Drinking water safety and floods.
Road Closures remaining in place:
- Forest Avenue South, closed between Lankin Boulevard and Victoria Crescent
- Cedar Island Road
- Davey Drive
Please avoid the flooded areas:
The city is asking members of the public to avoid the affected area unless they are residents, essential workers, or volunteers assisting with flood response efforts.
LSRCA Shoreline Hazard Watch:
The most recent shoreline hazard watch from the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority advised that Lake Simcoe continues to rise and as increasing gusts of winds on the lake can create waves, it increases the risk and extent of shoreline flooding already occurring.
Reporting Roadway Flooding:
Residents who observe flooding on roadways in their area are encouraged to report it to the City so that crews can respond as quickly as possible at orillia.ca/Service.

- Collins Drive Launch Ramp (425 Collins Drive)
- Davey Drive area (OPC Lane near the Champlain Sailing Club)
- Sand and bags provided (no delivery available)
- Residents must bring their own shovels

- Use extreme caution near all bodies of water
- Stay away from flooded areas
- Never enter flooded spaces where electricity may be present
