Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit announces 10 COVID cases Friday, bringing week’s total to 78

185 cases throughout September, compared to the peak in April of 221

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit announced 10 cases of COVID-19 on Friday, compared to 19 the day before.

Among Friday’s update, there were three in Essa Township, two in Barrie and in Bradford, one in New Tecumseth and in Clearview, and one pending. Half of Friday’s caseload increase were below the age of 34, and of those, one was under the age of 17. Eight people recovered since Thursday’s update. There are 94 active cases in Simcoe and Muskoka as of Friday afternoon, while none are currently in hospital as a result.

Friday’s caseload increase brings the week’s total to 78 cases, compared to 43 last week, and 52 the week before that. There were 185 cases of COVID-19 reported throughout the month of September, compared to 50 in August, 60 in July, and 131 in June. There were 190 cases reported in May, but the highest month remains April, with 221 cases reported across Simcoe and Muskoka.
