In the wake of the ice storm in March, the County of Simcoe proactively made adjustments to its waste drop-off facilities, including waiving fees for brush drop-offs, expanding operating days at numerous facilities, and opening three temporary residential drop-off locations in the hardest hit regions of the County. As clean up continues and demand gradually decreases, the following adjustments have been made:

  • All County waste drop-off sites will be returning to regular operating hours as of Saturday, May 3 except for the Oro location, which will be operating regular days plus Sunday, May 4, 11 and 18 for brush drop-off only.
  • Coldwater’s Temporary Brush Drop-off (1675 Anderson Line) location last opening day will be Saturday, May 3 after which the temporary site will be closed to the public.
  • Temporary sites in Innisfil and Midhurst will be extended to Saturday, May 10 and will remain open from Monday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The County will re-assess if the sites will be open beyond this date based on demand.

Curbside Brush Collection

Curbside brush collection is continuing across the County, with crews prioritizing the hardest-hit communities of Oro-Medonte, Severn, and Ramara. Collection has also begun in Innisfil, Essa, and Springwater, though the large volume of debris will continue to require extended collection time.

  • Chipper trucks continue to process brush in these affected communities based on priority needs.
  • Residents across the County must place ALL brush materials at their curbs by May 19. While collection timing will vary, all properly placed materials will eventually be collected.
  • Residents can utilize this interactive map to see if their home address falls into one of the highly impacted areas currently receiving collection and/or chipper crews.
  • If you are not in one of the highly impacted areas, the County will still be doing a one-time collection of larger storm brush in the near future. More information on this one-time collection for the remaining areas will be shared soon.

For up-to-date information and notices regarding collections, download the Simcoe County Collects App. For inquiries and questions, residents can contact the Service Simcoe Contact Centre by phone at 1-800-263-3199 or by email at service@simcoe.ca.
