Larry the Barfly was always in the background at Mo's and didn't speak except for some mumbles and drunk rambling.
Apparently, he spoke once when he shouted, "Who's the chick?" when Marge walked into the bar.
In the recent episode, "Cremains of the Day," Homer feels terrible for knowing almost nothing about Larry despite spending so much time with him.
Soon, Homer, Lenny, Mo, and Carl head on a road trip to scatter Larry's ashes.
After the episode aired, Simpsons writer Matt Selman posted on X saying he was proud of the creative team.
"'Cremains of the Day' – @TheSimpsons episode 765, brilliantly written by John Frink, stunningly co-run by @mrtimlong & daringly directed by Gabriel DeFrancesco."
