SIU Clears Cops After Bystander Injured
Police Called Off Suspect Vehicle Pursuit Before Crash That Caused Minor Injuries
Ontario’s police watchdog has cleared an OPP officer involved in a high speed chase.
It started in Wasaga Beach early in the morning of September 5th, 2017; an officer tried to pull a vehicle over due to a traffic infraction, but the SIU says that vehicle took off. The officer gave chase, but halted the pursuit after a short time.
The same vehicle was shortly after involved in a collision with a second car, but reportedly fled the scene. The man behind the wheel of that second car later reported injuries as a result of the crash, kicking off SIU involvement.
