The 2025 Barrie Baycats will have six representatives on the North team at the All-Star Showdown at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium in Hamilton July 20.
Outfielder Tristan Clarke will be the only Baycats player to start the game after earning one of the top slots in the voting process.
First baseman Nolan Machibroda, outfielder Noel McGarry Doyle, and pitchers Frank Garcés, Juan Benítez, and Carlos Sano will fill out the reserves.
Fan voting across the league accounted for 50 per cent of the tally, while the other half was populated by votes from the team's broadcasters.

Clarke was living in Oklahoma before this season, and has made the journey back to his home province worthwhile with an all-star game selection.
The Brampton-native has been one of the most influential players off the field, while also proving himself consistently on it.
He's failed to reach base in just three of his 22 games played this season, and has scored runs in 12 of those 22. His 19 RBI and 16 runs have him account for just over 24 per cent off all Baycats runs this season.
He's even added strong defensive play to his all-star case, which includes multiple highlight-reel catches.
RESERVES
NOLAN MACHIBRODA, 1B

Machibroda was nearly on the outside looking in for all-star selection, but has undoubtedly had an all-star quality season.
At the time of selection, the Saskatoon-native is on a 14-game hit streak that includes eight doubles and two home runs.
He leads the team with 21 RBI, a category he ended 2024 as the team's leader in with 27. He's also the team's leader in batting average among qualified hitters.
The Baycats first baseman was a reserve for the game last year and homered.
NOEL MCGARRY DOYLE, OF

McGarry Doyle's play early in the season earned him a shot in the Frontier League. And upon returning to the IBL, he hasn't slowed down.
He just earned IBL Player of the Week honours after going 15-for-25 with three home runs in his last five games.
Stretching since before his offer to play in the Frontier League with Ottawa, he's currently on an 11-game on-base streak.
He wasn't originally on the ballot but seems to have been selected independent from the voting as an injury replacement. Three players from the North team that were selected as starters will not be able to appear due to injury.
FRANK GARCÉS, LHP

Garcés will take part in all-star festivities for the second year in a row, despite a rocky start to the season for his standards.
However, the start he's had to the season has not put him out of discussion as the league's top arm.
He's on pace to break his career high in strikeouts of 83, which he might do before the big day in Hamilton.
JUAN BENÍTEZ, RHP
Season | Team | GP/GS | W | L | SV | ERA | SO/BB | WHIP | BAA | BAbip | HRA |

2025 | ![]() | 7/6 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 3.58 | 27/11 | 1.270 | .261 | .256 | 3 |
This will also be the second-straight All-Star Game for Benítez, who's anchored the Baycats rotation well again.
He's won three of his last four starts and has already logged four quality starts this year.
Benítez has only pitched in Hamilton three times in his IBL career, including his first career start in 2021.
CARLOS SANO, RHP
Season | Team | GP/GS | W | L | SV | ERA | SO/BB | WHIP | BAA | BAbip | HRA |

Sano came into this year knowing he'd likely be the Baycats closer, and he's been a shutdown one at that.
He hasn't lost a game since becoming a dedicated releiver, and has already matched his save total from 2024.
The Dominican righty has also won three games this season, all out of the bullpen.
INJURED
FRANCISCO HERNANDEZ, 2B
Season | Team | GP | R | H | HR | RBI | BB | SO | SB | BA | OBP | SLG | OPS |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2025 | ![]() | 13 | 14 | 18 | 3 | 7 | 4 | 11 | 3 | .353 | .400 | .647 | 1.047 |
Ever since making being moved from the leadoff spot in Barrie's order to the ninth spot after three games, Hernandez has been one of the best hitters in the league.
The brother of shortstop Brandon Hernandez went 17-for-37 over his last ten games before an injury suffered in Chatham June 21 has halted his season.
He was set to start the game but missed the last ten games with a hamstring injury.
RYAN RIJO, DH
Season | Team | GP | R | H | HR | RBI | BB | SO | SB | BA | OBP | SLG | OPS |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2025 | ![]() | 8 | 7 | 13 | 4 | 10 | 4 | 5 | 0 | .448 | .529 | .931 | 1.460 |
To the surprise of some, the longtime Barrie Baycats slugger has never appeared in an IBL All-Star Game, and unfortunately that fact will remain.
In late July, Rijo was diagnosed with a heart condition that will keep him out of Barrie's lineup until at least the IBL semifinals, should the team reach them.
Notorious for slow starts and late-season surges, he earned enough votes to start the game after the best start to a season of his career.
Through eight games in 2024, Rijo held a batting average of .250 with an OPS of just .544, but ended the year with clips of .345 and .771, earning second-team All-IBL selection.
He will still be at the festivities in Hamilton serving as an honorary coach for the North team.
Rijo earned enough votes to start in the game but will be replaced by Hamilton's Josh Williams, the brother of another injured Baycat, Malik Williams.
FORMER BAYCATS
JORDAN CASTALDO, 1B
Season | Team | GP | R | H | HR | RBI | BB | SO | SB | BA | OBP | SLG | OPS |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
2025 | ![]() | 17 | 15 | 19 | 5 | 15 | 16 | 12 | 0 | .297 | .458 | .578 | 1.036 |
The former Baycat will start his second straight All-Star Game as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He's one of a dozen qualified hitters with an OPS of at least 1.000 (1.036) this season.
Castaldo also notably reached milestones of 100 career IBL home runs and 500 RBI this seaso.
HOME RUN DERBY
The field for the home run derby hasn't been announced, but Machibroda has shown a clear interest.
"I'm one-for-one in home run derbies in my career," he said in a recent interview. "I think I've earned it... I would be able to compete very well if they gave me a chance."
Machibroda won the WCBL home run derby in 2022, hitting 15 total dingers in what was his first ever time competing in a derby.
Rijo also expressed interest in competing earlier this year, but will be unable to.
NOTABLES
The top vote-getters from each side will be the starting pitchers for the game. Hamilton's Owen Boon (4-0, 2.09 ERA) will start for the North, while the South team will start London's Victor Payano (3-1, 2.11 ERA).
