Six-year-old girl dies after being pulled from water at Tiny Township beach

Provincial police say a six-year-old girl from Orillia has died after emergency responders received a call around 9 p.m. Sunday that an unconscious child had been pulled from the water at Deanlea Beach in Tiny Township, just southeast of Midland.

When firefighters and County of Simcoe paramedics arrived at the beach, they took over lifesaving measures from those at the scene and transported the child for medical treatment, police said in a news release.

The child died in hospital.

"The investigation is continuing into the cause of death which investigators believe to be non-suspicious in nature with a post mortem to be conducted in the near future, the release stated. "Emergency services personnel wish to thank everyone who assisted at the scene."
