Sledder suffers serious hurts after hitting pressure crack on Lake Simcoe

A reminder that ice conditions can be unpredictable this time of year.

A man was airlifted to hospital Tuesday after his snowmobile hit a pressure crack on Lake Simcoe
about a kilometre off Shanty Bay.

Fire crews from Oro‑Medonte and Orillia, along with OPP and Simcoe County paramedics, worked together to bring him safely to shore and load him into an air ambulance.
