Elderly Man's Necklace Stolen Right Off His Neck

Some nimble fingers have police looking for a pair of suspects.

South Simcoe Police say an elderly man walking towards a Bradford grocery store around noon Tuesday, when he was approached by a pair in a dark-coloured van, looking for directions.

The victim complied, pointing them on their way, but that’s when the female in the van reached out. It appeared as though she was going to put a necklace around the victim’s neck as thank you, an offer that was declined. It wasn’t until later the victim discovered his gold chain was stolen right off his neck.

The male suspect is described as:

  • Olive complexion
  • Slim build
  • Wearing black hat

The female suspect is described as:

  • Olive complexion
  • Heavy build
  • black scarf over her hair

Vehicle described as a dark coloured passenger van

Here are some tips from police:

  1. If you wear jewelry in public, conceal valuable items under your clothing.
  2. Don’t allow anyone you don’t know into your personal space.
  3. Tell the person that you are not interested and for them to leave you alone.
  4. Draw attention to the situation by calling for help.
  5. Call police and report the crime immediately.
