After a spate of higher-than-average numbers across Simcoe County, the local health unit confirmed there were no new cases on Wednesday.
Over the past several weeks, the number of new cases confirmed by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has been on an upward trend. On Monday and Tuesday alone, the SMDHU confirmed 11 cases. There were 22 cases throughout the entire week of August 23, eleven the week before, and five the week before that.
Meanwhile, Public Health Ontario confirmed 133 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, an increase of 21 over Tuesday’s caseload addition.
Wednesday’s announcement came with news there were 137 recoveries overnight, meaning there were more people getting better than getting sick. The province announced no new deaths in the past 24 hours.
