Slowpoke driver charged with impaired, uttering threats, and more

Police were alerted about a vehicle travelling slowly on County Road 89 with its hazard lights on and holding up traffic

A long list of charges for an Innisfil man after South Simcoe Police were alerted Friday afternoon about a pickup truck travelling on County Road 89 with its hazard lights on and driving at a very slow speed. Police say the truck was holding up a line of traffic and the driver was seen swerving in their seat.

Officers located the vehicle pulling into a local business. After chatting with the driver, the 58-year-old was arrested for impaired. Police allege they found an open bottle of liquor in the vehicle.

The man was taken back to the police station for a breath test, but he allegedly refused to provide samples.

The suspect was charged with the following:

CHARGE 1 - Operation While Impaired 320 .14(1)(a) - Criminal Code

CHARGE 2 - Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand 320.15(1) - Criminal Code

CHARGE 3 - Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm 264.1(1)(a)

Provincial Offences

CHARGE 4 - Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor - Liquor licence and Control Act 42(1)(a)

CHARGE 5 - Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available - Liquor Licence and Control Act 42(1)(b)

CHARGE 6 - Fail to Surrender Insurance Card - CAIA 3(1)

CHARGE 7 - Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle - Highway Traffic Act - 7(5)(a)
