Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called shortly before 12:30 Monday morning about a male driver asleep at the wheel of their vehicle in the drive-thru of a restaurant in Alliston.

Police say when officers arrived, the vehicle was running with the windows up in front of the pay window.

"The driver was unresponsive, taking several attempts to wake him," OPP said in a news release.

A 47-year-old from the Tillsonburg area was charged with impaired driving.

In addition, the driver was issued a 90-day licence suspension, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The motorist has a court date next month.
