A snowmobiler was airlifted to a Toronto hospital after suffering significant injuries in a crash in the Lafontaine area.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP say the driver lost control of the vehicle late Friday night - police and paramedics responded just after 11:00 p.m.

The 24-year-old operator was located at a nearby residence. He was transported to a local hospital, however, due to his injuries, he was airlifted down to Toronto.

The investigation is ongoing.

According to OPP, the incident happened on OFSC trail # 303 approximately 1 km from Chemin Du Loup in Tiny Township, and the scene is being examined by the OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) unit.

Police say no charges have been laid.
