Some Drivers Being a Turkey Behind the Wheel Ahead of Thanksgiving Long Weekend

Speeding, Drunk Driving Charges Laid

South Simcoe Police may be more thankful this holiday weekend if more people behaved behind the wheel.

Police were out and about with the radar gun pointing at a Community Safety Zone in front of Cookstown Public around 1:30 yesterday, when they say a commercial vehicle was clocked at 101km an hour… a solid 61km over the limit, the driver has been charged with stunt driving.

A few hours later, officers received complaints of a vehicle driving erratically through Innisfil, and well below the speed limit. The suspect vehicle was tracked down, and a 34-year-old Barrie woman was taken back to the station. That’s where police say she blew five times the legal limit.

The South Simcoe Police Service joins other law enforcers across the region in enforcing the rules of the road this long weekend.
