Funeral arrangements for constables Russell and Northrup procession route & road closures

News release – South Simcoe Police

The South Simcoe Police Service extends its gratitude for the support and condolences received from the public since the tragic deaths of Constables Morgan Russell and Devon Michael Northrup.

The private funeral service for Constables Russell and Northrup will be held Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sadlon Arena, 555 Bayview Drive, Barrie, Ontario. The private service will be attended by the families of Constables Russell and Northrup, guests, members of the South Simcoe Police Service and representatives from other police services, emergency services personnel and officials.

The funeral service is not open to the public.

Members of the public may view the funeral proceedings via a livestream (the link will be made available on the South Simcoe Police Service website and social media tomorrow morning) or on local television stations.

For those in the community who wish to gather in person, a broadcast of the funeral is being offered at the Innisfil Community Church located at 1571 Innisfil Beach Road, Innisfil, and the St. John’s Presbyterian Church located at 2940 Sideroad 10, Bradford.

The South Simcoe Police Service will share livestream information on their social media channels, including its main Twitter account @SouthSimcoePS, as well as on their website at https://southsimcoepolice.on.ca/.

Procession to the Sadlon Arena

The public is invited to observe the funeral procession as it travels from the Adams Funeral Home (445 St. Vincent Street, Barrie) and the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home (30 Worsley Street, Barrie) to the Sadlon Arena. Travel is anticipated to begin at approximately 9:20 a.m., but is subject to change.

Road Closures

The South Simcoe Police Service thanks the public in advance for its cooperation and patience. The following road closures will be in effect in Barrie on Thursday, October 20

Traffic control measures will be in effect to facilitate traffic flow in the area. Further details about these road closures are available on the Barrie Police Service website and social media channels.
