The South Simcoe Police Service is making the public aware of a suspicious person investigation in Bradford.
"Police have been advised that in the past week, on three separate occasions, an unknown male has approached two girls on their way home from school in the area of Maplegrove Avenue and Catania Avenue," officers wrote in a release.
"The male has approached the girls and had a verbal interaction."
The investigation is ongoing.
Police say the man is described as:
- 20-30 years old
- Tanned skin
- Slim build
- Approximately 6 feet tall
- Short black hair
- Stubble length goatee
- Dark coloured clothing
Police are asking the public for help identifying the man.
Anyone who has had a similar interaction, or has any information, security camera or dashcam footage is asked to contact police at 905-775-3311, 705-436-2141, or Crime Stoppers.
The South Simcoe Police Service is providing the following safety tips for parents and caregivers:
- Teach children not to go anywhere with anyone without first getting permission from a parent/ guardian
- Teach children never to accept anything from anyone unless they have permission from a parent/guardian
- Practice scenarios with your child. Ask them what they would do if someone approaches them, asks them for help, says their parent sent them
- Encourage your child to tell a parent or trusted adult if someone approaches them, or if a situation makes them uncomfortable
- Teach your child to trust their instincts and the importance of paying attention to their surroundings
- Encourage children to always have a buddy with them, if possible.
