Provincial police say a Simcoe County Road 93 resident saw a sight from their home - a grey Nissan going airborne after hitting a driveway culvert - the motorist faces impaired driving charges.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP say the call came through around 11:20 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 18, and the lone driver was arrested at the scene

A 42-year-old Penetanguishene man faces the following charges:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on a recognizance to appear in court at the beginning of December.

Officers across Ontario kicked off the Festive Ride program recently in an effort to increase road safety through increased police visibility on roads and trails.

OPP say educating the public about safe driving practices with community safety partners is a priority, if you see a possible impaired driver on our roadways, waterways or trails please "Make the Call" and dial 911 as impaired driving never ends wellplease make a plan to get home safely.
