Ramara-native Spencer Shropshire pulled off an incredible comeback Friday in Lindsay to win the Ontario Junior Boys' Championship in a playoff over Luke Smith
The 17-year-old, who plays out of Hawk Ridge Golf Club, tied the course record at Lindsay Golf and Country Club, shooting a 62 to force a playoff that he won.
It was an improbable performance that led Shropshire to his first tournament win in Canada for his career.

"After last year, this was my number one goal, for this year, was to win this tournament," he said to Golf Ontario. "I was feeling bummed out that I wasn't going to win, but... I guess it was just my day."
Last year at this tournament, Shropshire went into the final round atop the leaderboard but finished in third. He started this year's final round in fifth.
The front nine was rather mundane by looking at the scorecard, but it was the stretch from holes nine to 14 that gave him hope.
"I truly did not know where I was from hole nine through 14," he added. "I was just so in the zone."
He went seven-under on the six-hole stretch, carding a birdie or better on each. That included an eagle on the par-five eleventh.
Before long, Shropshire delivered course record-tying 62, and claiming the playoff in a spectacular finish.

"This is a surreal feeling."
Luke Smith of The Thornhill Club delivered an impressive performance with rounds of 70, 68, 64, and 68, demonstrating exceptional consistency throughout the week.
Though he narrowly missed out in the playoff, his strong showing confirmed his place among Ontario’s top junior golfers.
Finishing third, Andy Dai of Station Creek Golf Club posted a solid 17-under-par total of 271 (65-71-68-67). His steady play across all four rounds earned him a well-earned spot on the podium.
All three players will now represent Ontario at the Golf Canada Junior Boys’ Championship, set for August 9–12 at Gowan Brae Golf and Country Club in Bathurst, N.B.
