An afternoon RIDE check was the demise of one driver Thursday afternoon in Springwater, who was subsequently arrested and charged.

Huronia West OPP arrested the 61-year-old man from Midhurst after an encounter with Huronia West OPP just after 3 p.m. on Gill Road.

The man's blood alcohol content cleared the legal limit (80 milligrams per litre), which resulted in his arrest and being charged with impaired operation.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Collingwood on February 10.

"Drivers who are impaired by drugs or alcohol continue to pose a significant threat on Ontario roads," Huronia West OPP concluded in a news release.
