State of Emergency lifted in Huntsville as flooding starts to ease

Be wary of door-to-door scam for flood relief funds

There was not as much rain as expected yesterday and that has allowed the Town of Huntsville to lift its State of Emergency. River flows and lake water levels in and around Huntsville and Port Sydney are steadily decreasing; down 15 centimetres in the Huntsville area as water makes its way through the system

Water flows in the Bracebridge-area remain high.

Meantime, Municipal affairs minister Steve Clark has activated the Disaster Recovery Assistance Program (DRAP) for flood-ravaged areas. It provides financial assistance to return essential property to its basic function. It does not take the place of insurance – insurance payments are deducted from eligible DRAP costs

And OPP advised last night of a potential scam…

OPP recommend asking for photo ID, get the name of the person and the name of the organization they represent. Also, ask for a breakdown of where funds are allocated and never share personal information.
