A 77-year-old Clearview Township man has been charged in a historical sexual assault investigation.

Huronia West OPP say they opened an investigation in April this year when an individual reported a sexual assault that allegedly occurred at Stayner Collegiate Institute between 1978-79.

At the time, police say the accused was a teacher.

The suspect has been charged with adult rape and adult sexual intercourse with a female between 14 and 16 years of age.

He has a court date next month.
