Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation Exceeds Twin Your Gift $250,000 Goal

The funds raised will be used toward the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital

News release – Stevenson Memorial Hospital

On October 1, 2021 the Stevenson Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) announced the launch of the Twin Your Gift matching program, made possible by a generous matching gift of up to $250,000 from an anonymous donor. We are excited to announce that we successfully exceeded our goal due to overwhelming generosity from the community.

“We are so fortunate to have this kind of incredible support from our anonymous, philanthropic community donor. It comes at a critical time in our bold campaign to redevelop Stevenson Memorial Hospital. With the urgent need in our communities for health care excellence, it’s vital that our hospital facilities meet demand. We need a revitalized hospital now and an investment of over $500,000 gets us one step closer to our goal,” says Mary Thomas, CEO of SMHF.

The SMHF Board of Directors and staff express a heartfelt thank you to all the individuals, families, local businesses, and companies who rose to the challenge and had their gift twinned. “We are very grateful for everyone who responded to our appeal with their support. It’s incredible to see the community inspired to help Transform Stevenson,” says Melody McLean, Director of Development and Campaign Director, SMHF.

The Because of you, we can Campaign is the largest campaign in the SMHF’s history, supporting the redevelopment of Stevenson Memorial Hospital. The hospital’s redevelopment plan includes a revitalized Emergency Department, doubling the square footage of the hospital and tripling the amount of parking space. Refreshed outpatient rooms, birthing suites, and laboratory space are also included in the plans. With an Emergency Department built to manage 7,000 visits a year that currently manages close to 40,000 per year, along with a growing population in south Simcoe and surrounding communities, this redevelopment is needed today and for future generations.
