Stolen pickup truck ditched in Barrie woods

Barrie Police

Barrie Police say a pick up truck stolen from a south end fitness centre on Thursday afternoon turned up in the woods behind an elementary school.

It was discovered Friday morning when people started to arrive at Ferndale Woods Elementary School on Ferndale Drive.

Police say the suspects were able to take the vehicle after they broke into the owner's locker at the fitness centre and took a bag that contained the keys.

Investigators are searching for two young males.

"This one certainly appears to have been taken on a bit of a joyride as it was going into a wooded area," said Barrie Police communications coordinator Peter Leon. "There were a number of trees that were struck."

Leon said there was some damage done to the passenger side of the truck.
