Barrie police credit a tracking device in a stolen pickup truck that led them to the vehicle and two suspects.

According to Barrie police communications coordinator Peter Leon, a 38-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman were taken into custody.

Leon said the vehicle owner, who lives in Barrie, awoke to discover their truck was gone and contacted police shortly after eight Friday morning.

He added that the tracking device in the truck provided police with up-to-date information that led them to the vehicle and suspects in a commercial parking lot on Bayview Drive near Big Bay Point Road.

From the time police were alerted about the theft to the arrests being made was about 25 minutes, Leon noted.

The investigation is ongoing.
