Snow Squall Watch - YELLOW ALERT

Snow squalls possible tonight into Sunday morning.

What:
Total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm. Locally higher amounts possible.
Poor visibility in areas of heavy snow and blowing snow.

When:
Beginning this evening and then continuing into Sunday morning.

Additional information:
Lake effect snow squalls off Georgian Bay may move into the area tonight. Snow squalls are expected to shift south of the area Sunday morning as winds become more northerly.

Travel may be hazardous. Visibility may be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Roads and walkways may be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Snow Squall Warning - ORANGE ALERT

  • Bracebridge - Gravenhurst
  • Hunstville - Baysville
  • Port Carling - Port Severn

Intense snow squalls off Georgian Bay today and tonight.

What:
Snowfall accumulations of 20 to 45 cm. Locally higher amounts possible.
Near zero visibility in areas of heavy snow and blowing snow.
Peak snowfall rates of 5 to 10 cm per hour.

When:
Continuing through tonight.

Additional information:
A very intense snow band will become nearly stationary today, resulting in significant snowfall amounts.

Lake effect snow squalls are expected to shift south of the area tonight as winds become northerly.

Travel will likely be extremely hazardous. Road closures are possible. Utility outages are likely.

Non-essential travel and outdoor activities should be avoided.

Beginning this morning and ending tonight.

Lake effect snow squalls off Georgian Bay will move into the area this morning. Snow squalls are expected to shift south of the area tonight as winds become more northerly.

Travel will likely be hazardous. Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

RED

Red alert symbol: A red band surrounding a solid white triangle. The solid white triangle contains a red exclamation mark inside it.
  • Very dangerous and possibly life-threatening weather will cause extreme damage and disruption
  • Impacts are extensive, widespread, and prolonged
  • Red alerts are rare
