It sounds like something Americans would do.

Subway restaurants in the US are offering one lucky customer "Deli Hero Subs" for life if they legally change their first name to "Subway."

Starting from August 1-August 4, interested people can enter at SubwayNameChange.com.

Once a contestant is chosen, they must agree to make the name change legal.

Subway will cover the $750 name change cost and hand out $50,000 in Subway gift cards.

The contest is to draw more attention to the new sandwich consisting of deli meats sliced on-site, not pre-sliced like previous cold cuts.

Last year a man won free "Subway for Life" after camping out for two days to get a foot-long tattoo of the Subway logo.

People love their sandwiches.
