Suspect arrested in carjacking of elderly Barrie woman, second person being sought

South Simcoe Police have nabbed one of two men wanted in connection with the carjacking of a senior in Innisfil.

“On Monday, May 16, 2022, at approximately 12:10 p.m., a 77-year-old Barrie woman was approached by a male suspect armed with a knife who grabbed her keys, pushed her to the ground and fled the scene in her vehicle at the Tim Hortons located on Commerce Park Drive,” police said in a news release on Wednesday.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

Last month, police issued arrest warrants for two men on charges including robbery, assault with a weapon, and theft of a vehicle.

On Monday, police arrested and charged a 25-year-old from Brampton.

A 25-year-old of no fixed address is still being sought.
