South Simcoe Police have arrested and charged a second person in connection with a carjacking of a Barrie senior in Innisfil.

On May 16, 2022, police say shortly after 12 p.m., a 77-year-old woman was approached by a man armed with a knife who grabbed her keys, pushed her to the ground and fled the scene in her vehicle at a Tim Hortons on Commerce Park Drive.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

Last August, police issued arrest warrants for two men on charges including robbery, assault with a weapon, and theft of a vehicle.

In September 2023, a 25-year-old from Brampton was arrested and charged by police.

According to authorities, the second suspect was arrested on Friday, a 25-year-old from Hamilton, who was nabbed in Peel Region.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
