
A Toronto man is facing numerous charges after an SUV slammed into a hydro pole in Beeton.
Provincial police say the incident occurred around 10:30 Saturday morning, when a vehicle struck a hydro pole on Main Street East, and the driver fled the scene on foot.
Officers were made aware that the driver might be impaired because there was a report of a beer can in the vehicle.
The driver was located and arrested. He was transported to the hospital as a precaution.
The 33-year-old has been charged with the following:
• Failure to stop after accident
• Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
• Failure or refusal to comply with demand
• Obstruct peace officer
• Dangerous operation
• Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000
• Assault a peace officer
• Three counts of - operation while prohibited under the criminal code
• Fail to comply with probation order
• Two counts of - driving while under suspension
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
