Three fires in Barrie, blaze at auto repair shop considered suspicious.

Barrie fire crews dealt with two house fires and a blaze at a commercial building

A fire at an auto repair shop on George Street near Anne is considered suspicious. The blaze at 400 Auto Collision was called in around three this morning. There is no damage total. The Ontario Fire Marshall and police are investigating.

Last evening, crews were called to a house fire on Henry Street near Anne. When the fire department arrived, there was smoke coming from the eavestrough and flames in the interior. Damage is around $88,000. The fire is believed to be electrical. No injuries.

An interesting sidebar to this. The fire department says the occupants got a visit only a week ago from the Alarm for Life campaign and replaced all of their alarms.

There was also a close call at a home on Downsview Drive in Barrie’s east end last night. Candles above a fireplace were melting and dripping onto the fireplace generating smoke throughout the basement. Once the place was ventilated, the family was allowed to return home
