Precautionary swim advisory at Barrie beach after sewer line hit

A precautionary move by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit to declare a swim advisory at Minet's Point Beach in Barrie after a contractor working on the Bayview Drive road improvement project hit a sewer line causing a spill.

"Staff responded immediately to begin a cleanup," the City of Barrie said in a news release on Monday evening.

Signs have been posted at Minet's Point Beach alerting the public about the swim advisory.

The city says sampling at the beach is being undertaken and results are pending.
