There won't be any political theatre in Tay Township during the municipal election campaign.
That's because everyone seeking office was acclaimed - including candidates for mayor, deputy mayor and the five seats on council.
The municipality in northern Simcoe County includes Victoria Harbour, Port McMcNicoll and Waubaushene.
Mayor Ted Walker, who will now serve a second term, says he can't remember a time in Tay Township that an entire council was acclaimed.
"I'd like to think it's because residents were satisfied with what we've accomplished over the last four years," says Walker. "But I do understand the demands on time that it takes to serve in public office."
He laments the fact more young people won't take up the challenge, though the mayor acknowledges the situation doesn't always work for them.
Walker says with an entire council getting acclaimed it would be understandable to think that the community is just apathetic, but he rejects that notion.
"We have so many active people in the township volunteering on various boards and committees with the Lion's Club and things like that, so I can't really put it down to apathy."
Voters across Ontario are set to cast ballots in municipal and school board elections on October 24th.
