Teens accused of street racing through Innisfil

Both drivers charged

A pair of Innisfil teens are facing some street racing charges after police say they made lots of noise.

An officer was out and about, conducting speed enforcement on Yonge St. near the 6th Line around 10:00 Monday evening, when they heard a loud revving of a pair of approaching vehicles. Police say an Audi and Ford were clocked at high speeds and appeared to be racing each other.

The officer pulled over both vehicles and say both had 18-year-old men behind the wheel, adding both were G2 novice drivers. Both vehicles were impounded for seven days.

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old Ajax man was charged with speeding and driving under suspension, after police say it was hitting speeds of 32km an hour over the limit. The vehicle was pulled over shortly after 11:00 Monday night, the driver was given a future court date.
