The Barrie Women’s Show Is Bigger & Better Than Ever

There’s more to see and do at the Women’s Show this year. It’s growing bigger, bringing more vendors into a larger space at the Bradford Greenhouses Barrie location.

“The show is in a new location, a larger area in the greenhouse, and it’s three times the size with lots more walking room, more room around the stage and more vendors than ever before,” said Madison Plewes, events coordinator at Bradford Greenhouses Garden Gallery. “It’s an

She expects around 150 vendors at the show, up by one third from last year, exhibiting and showcasing a wide range of products and services from health and wellness to beauty, fashion, and design.

“The majority of the vendors are new, different people than you would normally see,” said Plewes, adding that the show has attracted new business from the Barrie area as well as vendors from the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) to Collingwood. “We are trying to find more vendors that are eco-friendly.”

This year’s show will include quite a few new elements that range from selfie photo ops to a personal make-over area and free yoga classes. The beginner yoga classes, about 20 minutes in length will be offered just before the show opens, at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday and Sunday. Bring your own mat and call in advance to register, 705-725-9913 ext. 325.

An area near the stage and food court will be created with extra seating to relax and take a break during the show. It also includes a kid’s zone.

On the stage, there will be industry expects giving demonstrations and speaking about topics of interest ranging from body image to raising awareness about health, hair and cosmetics, information about tattoos and piercing and a bra fitting demonstration on a mannequin. It will also address issues such as what do about harmful cleaning products in the home.

Bradford Greenhouses has been hosting the show for more than 10 years. It originally began as a way of creating some excitement during a slow time of year for many businesses and it has continued to bring people together in a fun outing designed to lift the January blues.

Fashion shows, one each day, showcase professional clothing and cruise-wear from the in-house Lilie Boutique, and the Flower Shop will have some of the latest trends for weddings.

“The colour of the year is classic blue and it follows through for everything,” said florist Karina Loder, who has been a wedding consultant at Bradford Greenhouses for the past five years. “Foliage and green are popular, whites and cream, plants to use as backdrops and what can be reused afterwards.”

Barrie Women’s Show takes place Jan. 18-19 at Bradford Greenhouses Garden Gallery, 4346 County Road 90, just outside of Barrie. Hours are 10 a.m to 5 p.m. on Saturday, 10 a.m to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission and parking are free. See http://womensshowbarrie.com for more.
