Barrie Police say a third murder suspect is now in custody thanks to a RIDE check.
Shortly after 6:30 Thursday evening, a 26-year-old suspect was arrested by South Simcoe Police officers as he allegedly tried to evade a RIDE spot check in the area of Yonge St. and Innisfil Beach Rd. in Innisfil.
He was wanted on a First Degree Murder charge in connection to the November 16th stabbing death of 30-year-old Ryan Babineau of Barrie. Babineau was found suffering life-threatening injuries on Dunlop St. near the Five Points around 7:00 that morning, later succumbing to injuries at hospital.
Two others had already been charged in connection to Babineau’s death; a 28-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on November 21st, while another suspect was already behind bars. The 25-year-old suspect had been incarcerated in a northern Ontario jail on an unrelated matter, but police say today he has been formally charged with First Degree Murder.
