A TikToker showcases the massive difference between the Canadian and US healthcare systems.
Joseph DeBenedictis post recently went viral when he showed an example of a trip to the Doctors office.
In the Canadian version, he sits in the office and, after a while, plays with all the instruments. He even has time for a nap before the Doctor finally arrives.
Once he's done, he simply walks out of the office. No cash is needed.
The American version has him seen by a professional almost immediately, but he has to leave all his credit cards to pay.
It leaves the question. Which one is better?
A resounding number of people in the comments stated they would gladly wait if it meant it was free.
One person wrote, "I would wait 8.5 hours in the ER again if it means avoiding a $5,000 hospital bill."
Another wrote, "I've lived in both countries and have to say Canada, despite its challenges. Paying for a Pap smear in Michigan infuriated me."
Not all agreed, though. One person responded that they would rather pay when the pain was extreme.
"It's better to pay to see the doctor rather than screaming in pain waiting for hours and hours, especially in emergency " they wrote.
