Vehicle crashes into tree in Tiny Township, driver sent to trauma hospital: OPP

Southern Georgian Bay OPP are investigating a single-vehicle crash into a tree that sent the driver to a trauma hospital.

David Hobson, OPP media officer, told Barrie 360 the collision happened Saturday just after 10 p.m. on Lafontaine Road East near Concession Road 16 East in Tiny Township

Hobson says the passenger, a 21-year-old woman, was treated for injuries and released from hospital. The driver, a 34-year-old man, was transferred to a trauma hospital for treatment of "serious" injuries.

Roads were reopened around 4 a.m. this morning.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dash cam video is asked to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
