Impaired driving charges laid in both cases

A transport truck driver has been charged with impaired driving by drug, and dangerous driving.

Barrie Police tweeted their traffic unit was alerted on Wednesday about a possible impaired motorist on Bayfield Street.

The vehicle has been impounded for seven days and the driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.

Meanwhile, Ontario Provincial Police responded to a traffic complaint around 2:30 on Tuesday afternoon of a vehicle passing at high rates of speed on County Road 10 in Essa Township.

The vehicle and driver were located, and police initiated an impaired driving investigation.

A 36-year-old Essa Township man was charged with two impaired driving offences.

Also on Tuesday, a motorist alerted South Simcoe Police around 8:30 p.m. to a possible drunk driver in the area of Innisfil Beach Road and Highway 400.

Police said they spotted a vehicle driving erratically westbound on Innisfil Beach Road and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was arrested for impaired and taken to the North Division station.

A 55-year old man of no fixed address was charged with impaired driving offences and driving while under suspension.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 45 days.
