The Barrie Baycats have appointed Todd Tuckey as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership move during a period of major transformation for the franchise.
Tuckey, who is also one of the club’s owners, steps into the role with deep community roots and a long-standing passion for both baseball and the Barrie region. He currently serves as President of the Rotary Club of Barrie, where he has been an active supporter of charitable and community initiatives across the city and surrounding area.
The Baycats say the timing of his appointment is especially important as the club prepares for a new stadium and transitions into the newly rebranded Canadian Baseball League (CBL) — a fully professional league representing a major step forward for baseball in Canada.
Tuckey says he’s eager to help guide the Baycats as they enter a new chapter alongside President & Head Coach Josh Matlow, as well as the players, staff, and fans who have helped establish the team as a dominant force in the league.
“I’m incredibly honoured to take on this role,” said Tuckey. “The Barrie Baycats have a proud history and an incredible fan base. With the evolution of the league and the exciting opportunities ahead, I’m looking forward to working alongside Josh and the entire organization to continue growing the game, strengthening our community connections, and delivering an exceptional experience for our fans.”
One of the most anticipated developments for the franchise is a new stadium — a project the organization says will elevate the fan experience and support the ongoing growth of baseball in Simcoe County. Planning is already underway, representing a major milestone for both the team and the wider baseball community.
The Baycats say Tuckey’s leadership, combined with the organization’s continued commitment to excellence on and off the field, positions the team for long-term success as it moves confidently into its next era.
