They say officers found evidence of gunfire at the scene and there was damage to the building but no injuries were reported.

Police say the shooting is being investigated as a targeted incident.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford says the shooting at Temple Emanu-El in North York was "a vile and targeted act of antisemitism."

He says in a social media post that it was also an attack on the safety and dignity of Ontario's Jewish community.

Police say they have increased patrols in the area and are asking anyone with information to contact them.

"Antisemitism has no place in our province," Ford wrote in a post on X. "We will not tolerate hate, intimidation or violence against any community."
