Tour De T1D 2019: Support The Fight Against Type 1 Diabetes
Back Again after a triumphant first year.
The Tour de T1D will see hundreds of participants biking to support the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Youth Diabetic Clinic. Last year’s inaugural event raised over $32,000 and this year’s goal is to eclipse that total and raise over $50,000 to support the fight against Type 1 Diabetes.
Type 1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disease for which there is no cure. It is a lifelong condition that requires daily insulin injections or an insulin pump for continues delivery. In 2014, there were over 3 million people in Canada living with diabetes and 270,000 people living with type 1.
This year’s event takes place at the Heights Ski and Country Club and cyclists can choose from a 25k, 50k, or 100k route. Trek Barrie will be there for on-site and on-road support along with Epic North Coffee who will be serving hot and fresh coffee. In the afternoon you can enjoy a post-ride meal from the Heights kitchen and entertainment from Code Blue.
