Tow truck driver hurt in Fail To Remain collision in Innisfil

Police appealing for witnesses/dashcam video

South Simcoe Police say a tow truck driver was hurt Tuesday afternoon in a Fail To Remain collision on Innisfil Beach Road at Highway 400.

He had just finished loading a broken down school bus onto a flatbed trailer. He was struck around 12:40 pm while standing next to his truck.

The 34-year-old King Township man was treated at hospital for minor injuries.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward, as well as anyone with dashcam video of what happened.

Anyone with information is asked to call South Simcoe Police at 705-436-2141, 905-775-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- TIPS (8477).

South Simcoe Police remind drivers that Ontario’s ‘Move Over’ law requires drivers to slow down and proceed with caution when passing an emergency vehicle or tow truck parked on the side of the highway with its lights activated. If the highway has more than one lane, the law requires the driver to move over and leave one lane between their vehicle and the parked emergency vehicle or tow truck if it can be done safely. Drivers can face fines from $490 to $2,000 by failing to comply.
