Collingwood OPP say two people allegedly switched positions in the vehicle they were in and both ended up being charged with impaired driving and other offences.
Early Sunday, police received a call from someone who reported a possible impaired driver on Raglan Street in Collingwood. While the person was reporting the incident, OPP say the vehicle stopped and the driver and passenger switched positions.
"The vehicle continued driving on Ragaln Street, with the second male driving it," police stated in a news release on Monday.
Minutes later, OPP stopped the vehicle on Poplar Side Road.
Both men in their 20s from Brantford were arrested for impaired driving.
As a result of the investigation, a 22 year-old was charged with:
· Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle
· Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle - 80 Plus
· Drive Motor vehicle No Licence
· Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Alcohol
· Fail to Wear Seatbelt
· Fail to have Insurance Card
A 28-year-old from Brantford was charged with:
· Impaired Operation of a motor vehicle
· Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle - 80 Plus
· Novice Driver - Unacompanied by Qualified driver
· Novice Driver - drive at unlawful hour
· Novice Driver - B.A.C. above zero
· Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Alcohol
· Fail to Wear Seatbelt - passenger
· Fail to have Insurance Card
Both men have had their driver's licences suspended for 90-days and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
They are to appear in court at a future date.
